Dental crown in just 1.5 hour!

Dentists know perfectly, that the preparation and cementing of a crown for a patient usually requires at least two visits ... and a little patience. However, there is a new technology which enables the preparation and establishment of the crown in just one visit.

A number of patients, who decided on having the one-day crowns abroad performed, already know about the benefits of the procedure. To have such a crown performed, the tooth is first covered with a layer of spray titanium dioxide. Then the dentist with a special camera performs three-dimensional photographic documentation.

After connecting the camera image with the record of occlusion, which allows to fit the crown to other teeth, the computer designs the crown.

Then a special device together with a computer cleans and preapres the crown for about 15 minutes. The crown is extremely accurate and precise. After a while, the happy patient can return home with a new crown.

The system, which allows the preparing of the crown in one visit costs 150 000 dollars, and because it is so  costly, it will take some time before it is spread in world clinics.

The cost of a crown made in this way does not differ from the price of a crown produced by the conventional method.

Fatal effects of smoking, so how to quickly lose your teeth.

Specialists in periodontitis has long been aware of the danger of smoking. Smokers are more at risk of periodontal disease than non-smokers. The result is mainly the compromised immune system.

Tobacco inhibits resistance, thanks to which bacteria have effective access to periodontitis. Therefore, researchers are hopeful that these results will contribute to the awakening of social consciousness.

The researchers, having examined more than 12 thousands of people, found that people who smoke more than and and a half pack of cigarettes a day are six times more likely to develop periodontal disease than nonsmokers, and those who smoke less than half of pack a day - almost three times.

The survey of U.S. scientists shows that in the United States periodontal disease is typical of African Americans and people with low income. The scientists, however, have reassuring news for ex-smokers: 11 years after quitting smoking the risk of periodontal disease is the same as in case of people who have never smoked.

How, then, is the situation of smokers in Poland? Smokers in Poland compose a relatively large number comparing to other European countries. 34% of Poles above 15 years of age smoke. The number of smokers decreases slowly. In 1997, there were 36% of smokers.

Every fifth smoker (21%) started smoking cigarettes before the age of 15. Almost twice as many men (44%) than women (24%) smoke. Most smokers are among 40-49-year-olds - 46%. More likely to smoke are people with secondary or vocational education (42%), manual workers (51%) and the unemployed (52%).

The largest group (59%) are the ones who smoke up to one pack a day (11-20 cigarettes). Every tenth person smokes over 20 cigarettes a day. A quarter of smokers smokes from 6 to 10 cigarettes a day. 5% smokes up to five cigarettes. Almost two fifths of smokers want to quit, but nearly half has not intended to abandon it.

The study was conducted between 12 and 15 on Poles above 15 years of age.

Smokers should take proper oral hygiene and visit dental office for hygiene cleaning aborad more often than non-smokers.

Dental camouflage- Prosthodontics in Poland

Until recently,  a damaged tooth had to be usually removed immediately, claiming that it is not worth trying to save it. Now, dentists heal and restore teeth, which are damaged and they even implant false teeth. Dental tricks of camouflaging cavities are not cheap. But they are worth their price, because the effects include a beautiful smile and healthier body.

Here are some options from which you can choose, searching for the ideal method for masking imperfections and incompleteness of teeth:

Veneers Abroad- individually tailored to each tooth thin layer of porcelain or porcelain-coated material. It resembles a mask applied to the wall of the tooth, glued on a dental cement. It can apply only in case of healthy, cured, not destroyed by decay, polished and perfectly smooth surfaces. Stages of treatment: grinding of the tooth, making impressions, putting on a temporary cap, and then cementing the veneers. The cost is about 1000- 1500 PLN. The result: beautiful teeth, equal and adjusted colors.

Implants Abroad- artificial root-like tooth root, with a cemented artificial tooth crown on the top. Most reliable implants are made of titanium with full ceramic crowns. They are implanted into the bone in the place of a missing tooth and are strikingly similar to real teeth. The stages of treatment: bone grafting (if the natural bone is not sufficient), implantation, sewing the gums, uncovering the implant and setting the crown. The cost is about 2500 PLN plus the cost of the crown.

How does tooth decay form?

Although the main factors which cause tooth decay are acids produced by bacteria, especially Streptococcus mutans, the micro-organisms alone would not be able to destroy the layers of the tooth. For the decay to occur, we need the cooperation of four factors. None of them alone contributes to the development of caries, but together they form a good team, whose activity leads to the formation of cavities.

Dentist Abroad

1. Plaque - made mainly by S. mutans bacteria and organic debris that stuck to the surface of the tooth during a meal. Bacteria which cause caries can attach to even smooth surfaces. They produce sticky, insoluble polysaccharide - dextran out of sucrose found in food. Polysaccharide facilitates subsequent attachment of the bacterial cells to the tooth surface. Plaque builds up, becoming an excellent habitat for microorganisms.

2. Susceptible tooth tissues - for the caries bacteria to do any action, you need a tooth, which would be susceptible to acid produced by microorganisms. Susceptibility to damage is determined by hereditary, developmental and dependent on lifestyle and diet factors. The more carbohydrates in the diet (also in case of mothers during pregnancy), the greater the risk of dental caries.

3. The foundation on which caries bacteria will develop. The best for them is the refined sugar - sucrose. Streptococcus decomposes it into glucose (which later produces insoluble dextran, which assists in the creation of plaque) and fructose - this is the basis for the creation of lactic acid damaging the enamel. A good foundation to initiate the fermentation of carbohydrates is a starch, only that its conversion to sugars takes longer than in the case of sucrose.

4. Time - the more often we help ourselves to appetizers, the likelihood of damage of the enamel by caries is higher. Not only the large amounts of carbohydrates in the diet support the occurrence of tooth decay, but mostly the frequency of their consumption and the amount of time during which they are in contact with the surface of the teeth.

In order to avoid the development of tooth decay, remember about proper oral hygiene, regular visit to the dentist in Poland and regular hygiene cleaning abroad performed in a dental office.

How to take care of your tongue

Bad breath - the bane of many people - cannot be always eliminated by the usual hygiene cleaning abroad and the treatment of dental caries. If the teeth are cured, there are no problems with digestion, and the bad breath persists, you should blame the tongue. It is often the cause of problems with the freshness of breath. Food particles, which gather on the tongue, are a great reservoir of bacteria living in the mouth. To avoid unpleasant odors the tongue should be cleaned regularly.

Hygiene cleaning abroad

However, teeth and tongue brushing is not enough to maintain good oral hygiene. It is also necessary to clean periodontal pockets and interdental spaces.

Tongue is a muscular product, covered with warts, which collect numerous bacteria. These bacteria together with the food remnants create sediment, which also causes bad breath. Hence the importance of daily cleaning of the tongue. It is not sufficient to remove sediment only from the back of the tongue; remember also to clean the sides. This can be done using:

- toothbrushes - some of them have a special tongue cleaner on its head
- tongue brushes - look like a standard toothbrush, but without the hair
- tongue scraper - similar to a disposable razor
- spatula

After using there appliances, you should rinse them and left to dry. From time to time they should be also disinfected.
