How to take care of your teeth during Christmas?

Some Christmas meals may badly affect our teeth and gums. Which foods should be avoided and how to take care of oral hygiene at the Christmas table?

Chipped dead teeth, falling out fillings and tooth pain are the most common dental problems with which  patients come to dentists in Poland after Christmas. There are also those rare patients who want to take care of the health and aesthetics of their teeth as one of the New Year's resolutions.

Christmas meals and teeth

Due to the frequent consumption of sweets during the holiday season, there is a greater risk of developing caries. In addition, teeth with cavities are hypersensitive to sweet and cold food. So do you have to give up sweets for the holiday time? Not necessarily! Sweets can be eaten, but make sure to choose those that do not stick to the teeth. The prolonged contact with sugar promotes tooth caries. It is better to eat a lot of sweets at a time and then brush your teeth, than to eat a piece from time to time.

Poppy and fishbones as the enemies of dentures

All foods with poppy seeds are a problem for people who wear different types of removable dentures in Poland. Poppy gets between the prosthesis and the mucous membranes, which in turn leads to irritation of the oral mucosa. Bones from fish also can irritate the mucous membranes or stuck in a cavity in a tooth.

How to take care of your teeth when you cannot brush them?

If you do not have a the toothbrush at hand, rinse your mouth with water. This will remove about 80 percent of bacteria. An attempt to clean the teeth with a chewing gum (which is so recommended in TV commercials) often ends up with falling out of an old filling.

To make sure you will avoid any problems with teeth during Christmas, and you will cherish this unique atmosphere without any pain, visit your dentist and decide on dental treatment in Poland before Christmas.

More about teeth whitening

A beautiful smile is more and more important during business- depending on the dental appearance you may gain a new job or get excluded from circle of candidates. The best for the superficial self-assessment of your teeth is a mirror in your own bathroom. However, your dentist in Poland always decides about what you need to do to have a perfect smile. Healthy teeth need only a few things: daily and thoroughly cleaning preferably after every meal, a balanced diet and regular visits to the dentist abroad. Teeth whitening is recommended but in moderation.

The natural color of teeth is not the perfect white. Healthiest teeth are similar to the color of ivory - they are respectively highly saturated with minerals, and thus they possess strength and resistance to decay. You should be worried with discolouration of your teeth. The discolouration that appeared under the influence of the excessive consumption of stimulants: coffee or tea, or smoking, can be easily removed using a bleaching paste that usually contains silica. Silica purifies the enamel without damaging its structure. You should avoid pastes with abrasive particles of diamond and other substances causing friction. These additives are much harder than the enamel and lead to tooth mineral structure damage. Teeth treated with such pastes are becoming thinner and easier to fracture and prone to crashing. Teeth can be also brushed from time to time with a toothbrush with baking soda.
Before using stronger bleaching preparations, such as gels used for night, it is necessary to consult a dentist. Before the dentist recommends teeth whitening in Poland, she/he will perform  dental treatment and eliminate periodontal inflammation.

Teeth whitening should not be performed too often - it can weaken the enamel, and even lead to yellowing of teeth. This applies both to professional and home methods of whitening.

When your dentist asks about sex...

A visit to a dentist abroad can involve not only dental treatment in Poland, but also a talk with the patient about his/her habits and sexual preferences. This can happen to patients who visit their dentist in the UK. Dentists working in the UK were asked by the Department of Health to be more engaged in the fight against cancer. Oral cavity cancer happens more and more often to patients from Great Britain: in 2009 more than six thousand such cases were reported but it is estimated that by 2030 this number would increase to more than 9 thousand. The involvement and commitment of the dentist should be manifested in the form of an interview with the patient, during which the doctor would ask about the diet, oral hygiene, and whether the patient is having sex especially oral sex, and if so, with how many partners and how often.

HPV virus is responsable for the development of the oral cavity cancer. It moves mainly through sexual intercourse but not only- the researchers found out that oral sex also increases the likelihood of developing cancer of the mouth, especially in case of contacts with multiple partners.

The prevention of the oral cavity cancer is extremely important because such cancer is particularly difficult to diagnose, and its treatment is not always successful. Therefore, patients should pay special attention to any changes in the oral cavity which do not want to heal.

To ease the tooth pain

Toothache makes a patient visit a dentist in Poland. The idea of having a dental procedure performed still causes fear of the dental office in case of many people, even though it allows to get rid of the pain. Pain is a subjective phenomenon - everyone has a different sensitivity to pain, each individual responds to specific pain stimuli. That's not all: the same person can feel the pain of the same intensity and the same type differently on different days or times of the day - depending on your mental and physical state. The research shows that pain during dental treatment abroad can be reduced by:

- performing dental treatment late in the afternoon - we are less likely to feel pain stimuli then;

- the use of hypnosis and autosuggestion - in hypnosis you have to deal with the phenomenon of the so-called gates control, which manages to significantly reduce the activity of neurons
linking the pain with something unpleasant; autosuggestion allows us to divert attention from the unpleasant and promotes a positive attitude towards the treatment, which causes an equally positive response from the nerve tissue;

- focusing on something other than the pain and the performed surgery - a distraction from the unpleasant stimulus is sometimes just as effective as the use of painkillers, the ideal solution is to either listen to an interesting dentist speaking, or listen to music or watch movies during the surgery. You can also try to think intensively about a wonderful holiday and a successful first date;

- causing pain or unpleasant sensations in other parts of the body the those which are subject to the treatment, for instance clenching fists.

Dentists in Poland provide employment

Dentistry abroad, even in difficult times, underpins the economy - the field is growing nicely and gives employment to many people also unrelated to the dental treatment branch. Dentists in Poland employ specialists such as marketers, decorators, and even florists. A job for such professionals is offered primarily in dental clinics that have lots of patients, but also small offices are increasingly choosing to employ specialists or improving the company's image.

Due to the ever-growing popularity of dental tourism, clinics also employ customer service professionals, travel agnts, activity guides and translators.

Due to the fact that the dental industry, is subject to the law of the market, the proper management of the clinic is necessary as well as the properly organized staff and financial management of the company. For this reason, dental offices and clinics tend to employ more and more managers and directors. A manager organizes most of the office matters, takes care of  finances and marketing, and is responsible for personnel policy.

Offices also use the support of PR specialists, spokespersons and professionals such as massage therapist, a psychologist, educator. Thanks to this, in some offices, patients with panic anxiety can talk with a psychologist before the surgery in order to calm down and feel relaxed.

Mona Lisa without teeth?

Does Mona Lisa from the famous painting of Leonardo da Vinci smile gently because she knows a hidden secret unknown to us, or becasue she did not have teeth? For years scientists has been wondering about the mysteries of Leonardo's genius. Mona Lisa's Smile seems to us intriguing, some argue, however, that the great model's smile could not be different beacause her teeth may have been damaged or she did not have all the teeth.

At the beginning of the sixteenth century, when da Vinci painted his most famous painting, oral hygiene was not properly taken care of by the people of those times. Tooth decay - although present in humans' life for millions of years - started to be classified as a dental disease only in Leonardo's times. Renaissance models posing for paintings probably did not want their descendants to know that their teeth deprived the of beauty or that their teeth were usally completly or partly extracted. The fresh breath of the models was for sure also abad experience. It is not surprise that the paintings from the Renaissance and earlier present weak smiles, which are discreet and intriguing rather than broad with all its glory.

Even though it was in the Renaissance that many discoveries and inventions were created which allowed for oral health care (the Chinese invented the toothbrush and amalgam fillings), it may be that Mona Lisa had no luck to keep a beautiful smile at the time when she was painted by Leonardo.

Take care of propoer oral hygiene and visit your dentist in Poland.

Teeth loss and breast cancer

Recent studies have shown that women who have cavities in their teeth or suffer from periodontal disease, are 11 times more likely to develop breast cancer. Therefore, it is especially important for them to take care of their teeth and visit their dentist in Poland or start any other dental treatment abroad

The survey was conducted in Sweden on a group of three thousand patients. It showed that among the 41 people who were diagnosed with breast cancer, cancer risk was 11 times higher in patients with periodontitis and cavities in teeth. Since this is the first such study, the chairman of the British Dental Health Foundation, Dr Nigel Carter said that in order to confirm this information more research in this area should be caried out.

Periodontitis is caused by bacteria in plaque. As a result of this condition the teeth start to move, and then fall out. Many of the research carried out so far, showed that oral infections often have an impact on the overall health. It is believed that in case of people with periodontitis, bacteria causing the disease get into into the bloodstream, increasing the risk of heart disease.

Because periodontal disease develops painlessly, you should pay special attention to the symptoms, such as gum inflammation and redness, swelling, and bleeding, halitosis, 'loose' teeth and mouth infections. According to dr. Carter, the best and easiest way to prevent periodontitis is plaque removal, especially in the interdental spaces. He recommends brushing your teeth at least 2 times a day with fluoride toothpaste and using dental floss. Regular visits to the dentist can also help diagnose the emerging problem of periodontitis.

The influence of smoking and sleep on oral health

Recent studies have shown that smoking is the most important lifestyle-related factor in the progress of periodontal disease. Smoking is then followed by another important factor: lack of sleep ... Studies show that the state of the health of the oral cavity, in addition to brushing your teeth and using dental floss, is significantly influenced by other factors. Changes, such as a little more sleep, give the patient a better chance of improving the health of the oral cavity. It is also important to remember about the relationship between oral disease with systemic diseases.

It is believed that periodontal disease, which affects the teeth and gums, and can ultimately lead to the loss of
teeth can be caused by an imbalance of bacteria in the oral cavity. However, recent studies prove that also other factors play a major role. Researchers analyzed the impact of various factors related to the mode of life of various workers on the progress of periodontal disease, such as regular exercises, alcohol use, smoking, hours of sleep, hours of work, diet, stress, and eating breakfast. Of all the factors associated with the style of life of patients, scientists pointed to smoking as having the biggest influence on the development of periodontal diseases. The results, published in the Journal of Periodontology has also shown that 41% of those who experienced deterioration of periodontitis are smokers. Second largest factor associated with lifestyle and causing periodontal disease is the lack of sleep. The difference is visible already in case of people sleeping 7-8 hours per day compared with those who sleep only 6 hours or less. A definite impact on the development of periodontal disease is also living in stress and alcohol abuse.

If you have problems with periodontal diseases, visit your dentist abroad.

Healthy smile is trendy!

We are, fortunately, more and more aware of how important a beautiful smile is for making a good impression and for our overall health. Although more and more often people decide to wear braces, in many parts of the country wearing this specific "ornaments" still raises a lot of emotions. Orthodontic treatment of children and adults has become a habit and is now very fashionable. Specifically dental braces exist now as a symbol of taking care of one's health and beauty and keeping up with the latest trends.

But the competition never sleeps: it turns out that implantology is getting more and more popular. This rapidly growing field of dentistry abroad gets crowds of patients satisfied with the modern "third teeth." Those who still have teeth to save or straighten, should focus on the orthodontic treatment. Of course, the sooner the better. If, however, orthodontic treatment is not carried out in childhood, you can start virtually at any age - but you must be patient.

Orthodontic treatment requires time and money. Time - if you decide to do it as an adult, or if you want to use the services of a specialist who has signed a contract with the National Health Service, because sometimes you have to wait up to a year for the first visit. Patients can also choose to quickly and practically have the treatment performed in a private dental clinic in Poland without waiting. No matter which path you choose, the rate is always the health of your teeth and a fight for a beautiful smile. See also our offer of cosmetic surgery abroad.

Dentistry in Poland

Be wise before the damage and visit your dentist in Poland before your dental problems develop. Although, due to the best technologies, visit to the dentist's when your tooth is already aching can still cure the problem, it will for sure not be good for your finances.

Currently, as much as 43 percent of the Poles do not go to the dentist because of the fear. But the vast majority of us, when we already decide to treat our teeth, we pay for it from our own finances. It means that the fear of the dentist is a very expensive emotion. The dentist should be visited before the decay and other oral diseases have made serious damages, not only for the sake of finances, but also because we live three times longer than our ancestor but our enamel is still the same as theirs, and we have to take care of it to last longer.

The fear of the dentist should not be an excuse to avoid dentistry abroad. Besides the well-known decay, we also have a new destroyer of the teeth: acid erosion of the enamel. The condition affects approximately 30-40 percent of the population. It is the patients themselves who cause the harm by brushing their teeth badly. They tend to perform horizontal movements of scrubbing, using too hard brushes. As a result, wrinkles are formed at the surface of the teeth near the gums, where the enamel is thinnest.

Prevention does not hurt, but the treatment may hurt a lot, because the anesthetic does not eliminate the unpleasant feeling when you see the bill issued by your own negligence.

Who is a candidate for immediate dentures?

Prosthetic treatment, in appropriate cases, allows for immediate dental restorations. Such dentures abroad may be made if:
- all the teeth in both jaws are removed, or only in one of jaws
- a group of teeth is removed
- the patient must adapt to wearing dentures - then immediate temporary dentures are performed, which is the first step for the user to get used to the constant wearing of dentures
- all or part of the teeth have to be removed, but for health reasons it is not advisable to remove all teeth at once - then the dentist in Poland performs a temporary prosthesis and matches them to the currently existing conditions in the oral cavity
- part of the teeth are removed, and the patient will wear permanent dentures once the other teeth are removed.

Immediate dentures should not be done when:
- patients with poor health, who should not have any surgical intervention carried out
- patients who do not care about oral hygiene and do not adjust to doctor's suggestions, and patients, which, because of their mental disability, can not be contacted;
- patients with inflammatory conditions in the oral cavity.

Oral hygiene and eating disorders

Diet plays an important role in maintaining the proper condition of the soft tissues of the mouth and the teeth. While there is no doubt that sugar and sweets have a terrible impact on dental health, it may be a surprise for you that iron or vitamin D deficiency in the diet may be the cause of many serious diseases, which are also depicted in the health of your mouth. Dentists in Poland stress that the oral cavity is a structure in which we can find early signs of eating disorders.

Symptoms of eating disorders are most commonly seen in case of elder people. Most of them are also users of dentures abroad. Eating disorders that cause negative changes in the woven mouth are very often also the cause why people stop using their dentures due to pain and tenderness in the tissues. They stop wearing their dentures even for meals, and thus there is no chance for proper fragmentation of the food. Big pieces of food enter the stomach, which is very often already seriously ill, and casue irritation of the tissues and decay, thus worsening the health status of an elderly person. Older people often resign from eating valuable foods that require chewing. Thereby they miss an opportunity to provide the body with valuable nutrients. A good solution of the problem is a valuable, well-balanced diet and a visit to the dentist for dental treatment abroad to improve the health of your teeth and oral tissues.

Older people often complain of taste disorders as well, due to the fact that with age the number of taste buds responsible for the receipt of taste stimuli decreases. Another cause of taste disorders can be also dentures - if these problems do not disappear after a few weeks of adapting to the new dentures, please go to your dentist.

Taste disturbance may occur after the completion of 45 years of age or in case of postmenopausal women.

Salons of a beautiful smile enter Polish dentistry market

The investment into a beautiful smile pays off also in the course of a business: not only to people running their own dental offices, but also to the owners of beauty salons. With the growing popularity of treatments improving the aesthetics of the appearance, more and more companies offering the cultivation of beauty decide to expand their range of services by introducing more innovative treatments, such as teeth whitening abroad.

This type of medical treatment abroad seems very interesting because of its high efficiency, for instance whitening at the dentist in Poland, but at much more affordable price. This may appeal to customers. The proposed technologies allow to change the color of your teeth by up to 9 shades within 30 minutes, and restore their former whiteness.

Beauty salons have been equipped with the so-called "corner", that is the space used to whiten teeth. A lot of the already existing institutions want to enrich their offer by including such services. A cornery might be found in beauty salons, solariums, hair salons, spas and wellness zones. Ultimately, our country is expected to create 300 such points.

A smile with veneers

Dentures and dental implants abroad are not always the only way to improve the appearance of your teeth. Many people, including movie stars, improves their appearance by the use of veneers abroad.

These are very thin (about half a millimeter thick) shells of porcelain that are applied to the teeth. They change the shape and the color of the enamel, so that the smile is healthy, white and beautiful.

The application of veneers is beneficial not only for aesthetics. It also increases the durability of our canines. Thin shells of porcelain fuse strongly with the tooth, increasing its strength to a large extent. Porcelain veneers are extremely thin, but their application requires grinding of our natural, damaged enamel.

What is also essential to our well-being, is the fact that before the application of veneers, we can get rid of large and badly-looking fillings. Under the local anesthesia, the old filling is removed, leaving only the healthy portion of the tooth. The procedure for setting veneers last from five to seven days.

Why are veneers used?

- to improve the appearance of the teeth
- to restore their function

In what cases are the veneers recommended by dentists in Poland?

- discolored teeth
- damaged incisal edge
- abnormal shape of the teeth
- filled with badly-looking material
- teeth growing up in a converted sequence
- root canal treated teeth

Contraindications to veneers:

- some of the malocclusion problems
- habit of biting nails or tools for writing
- thin or damaged enamel
- badly damaged or dead tooth
- too short tooth
- poor oral hygiene

Check the dental veneers offered by our dentists in Poznan.

Tidbits about dental crowns

How are super strong dental crowns in Poland created?

Full-ceramic crowns abroad are the absolute "Mercedes" among dental restorations. Ceramic mass is fired in a kiln at high temperature and pressure. Under these conditions, the components of ceramics are connected better and a strong, compact mass, ideal for crowns is produced. Ceramic crowns are very durable and strong, and at the same time highly aesthetic, since their colour can be adjusted to the enamel.

How are dental crowns put on?

A dental crown is only one way to fill the absence of teeth. The first stage of their establishment is grinding of all sides of the tooth or teeth adjacent to the gap. Another - getting impressions and determining the color of the future crowns and bridges in Poland. On the basis of the impressions the crown/bridge is performed, which is fixed to the tooth roots previously prepared and fixed with dental cement.

How do I keep the crowns stable on the teeth?

Crowns stick to the teeth by the strength of adhesion. It depends on the size and surface area of contact between the tooth and the complement. If your teeth provide the steep and tall pillars, the crown will stick well. For this reason, the dentist must grind the tooth to the correct size and shape. If damage to the tooth disqualify the use of the crown, the dentist will inform you of this and propose a different solution.

Secrets of teeth whitening

If your smile is not perfectly white and you can not deal with it, decide on teeth whitening abroad. Before you choose the method of whitening, visit your dentist in Poland.

teeth whitening abroad

1. Start with cleaning the teeth- for this purpose it is necessary to visit a dentist. The dentist removes plaque and cleans teeth thoroughly. He/She will do this by using ultrasounds, mechanically or by sand-blasting. This procedure will allow for swift, though little improvement of the color of teeth. By the way, make an overview of the fillings - the old composite fillings gain discoloration after some time. Amalgams by their dark color alter the color of the teeth. Modern filling materials are characterized by a permanent color - if you need, replace old fillings with new ones.

2. Use whitening tooth pastes, gels or whitening strips - you can use them at home. They do not cause irritation and gently brighten the color of teeth - the enamel is whiter by about 2 tons. Whitening toothpastes contain enzymes and active beads, which dissolve the delicate membrane of an organic linking plaque from the enamel surface. Do not use whitening toothpastes for too long. It is not recommended to a person with active paradentosis.

3. Decide on a professional whitening - consult a dentist. He will advise whether you can apply a bleaching overlay that you can use at home, or is it better to whiten your teeth in the office using a special light-sensitive gel irradiated with cold blue light.

If your teeth are still not white enough, your dentist can fix it by perfectly white veneers in Poland.

They can be used for full or partial dentures, removable or permanent as well as in implantology. They are available in three basic sizes: large, medium and small.

New dentures are light and do not have unsightly metal clasps.

How should proper oral hygiene look like?

Daily oral hygiene includes brushing the teeth twice a day (or even three times) with a medium or soft brush with an appropriate toothpaste, daily flossing and the use of fluoride rinses.

Is just teeth brushing enough?

Definitely not. We should also remember about brushing the tongue. The back of the tongue is one of the main habitats of microorganisms in the oral cavity and the source of its spread, especially when covered with coating. Special tools for cleaning the tongue are available on the market.

What is the role of a toothpaste?

Toothpastes are the most popular and commonly used substances for daily brushing of teeth. Its benefits are the following:
1. cleans the teeth of the sludge and deposits
2. increases resistance to tooth decay
3. is beneficial for the gums
4. prevents or limits the deposition of hard and soft dental deposits
5. provides good taste and smell.

Why should I use liquid mouthwash and floss?

Underestimated, although very easy method of oral hygiene is rinsing the mouth. Vigorous rinsing with water after a meal leads to the removal of debris, reduces the amount of bacteria, neutralizes the acidic environment of the mouth.
Flossing is the only effective method of removing remains from between the teeth.

In addition to home methods of teeth cleaning, do not forget about regular hygiene cleaning abroad in the dental office.

Dental crown in just 1.5 hour!

Dentists know perfectly, that the preparation and cementing of a crown for a patient usually requires at least two visits ... and a little patience. However, there is a new technology which enables the preparation and establishment of the crown in just one visit.

A number of patients, who decided on having the one-day crowns abroad performed, already know about the benefits of the procedure. To have such a crown performed, the tooth is first covered with a layer of spray titanium dioxide. Then the dentist with a special camera performs three-dimensional photographic documentation.

After connecting the camera image with the record of occlusion, which allows to fit the crown to other teeth, the computer designs the crown.

Then a special device together with a computer cleans and preapres the crown for about 15 minutes. The crown is extremely accurate and precise. After a while, the happy patient can return home with a new crown.

The system, which allows the preparing of the crown in one visit costs 150 000 dollars, and because it is so  costly, it will take some time before it is spread in world clinics.

The cost of a crown made in this way does not differ from the price of a crown produced by the conventional method.

Fatal effects of smoking, so how to quickly lose your teeth.

Specialists in periodontitis has long been aware of the danger of smoking. Smokers are more at risk of periodontal disease than non-smokers. The result is mainly the compromised immune system.

Tobacco inhibits resistance, thanks to which bacteria have effective access to periodontitis. Therefore, researchers are hopeful that these results will contribute to the awakening of social consciousness.

The researchers, having examined more than 12 thousands of people, found that people who smoke more than and and a half pack of cigarettes a day are six times more likely to develop periodontal disease than nonsmokers, and those who smoke less than half of pack a day - almost three times.

The survey of U.S. scientists shows that in the United States periodontal disease is typical of African Americans and people with low income. The scientists, however, have reassuring news for ex-smokers: 11 years after quitting smoking the risk of periodontal disease is the same as in case of people who have never smoked.
