One of the diseases of today;s civilization is decay. Its
etiology is extremely complex. The appearance of dental caries and its course
depends on a number of factors:
created by an individual - for example:
·
lifestyle
·
natural factors
·
systematic oral hygiene
·
dental prophylaxis compliance with guidelines
or macro-systemic: socio-economic, political,
cultural, organizational.
The resultant of these factors creates an accurate picture
of the disease - in relation to individuals or to populations. In the case of
units the dental health status depends on both types of factors: individual and
systemic.
The activities of dentists in Poland has, according to the
results of studies, a relatively small impact on the behavior of dental health;
it is estimated that only 15% of dental health is dependent on medical intervention.
The dentists themselves only to a small extent, can improve the health of the chewing
apparatus, if there is a lack of interest on the part of patients. Because the
improvement in dental health depends on the patient himself.
