Wisdom Teeth are the last molars, which can cause many problems. Wisdom teeth usually erupt between 17 - 25 years of age, but their appearance in one's forties is also not a rarity. Sometimes it is easy to miss the beginning of their development, because it may be gradual.
The wisdom teeth are usually difficult to erupt. Sometimes, the wisdom tooth leads to the development of inflammation and irritation - this happens when gums cover the entire tooth, or a part of its crown.
Wisdom teeth - like other molars - are designed for crushing food. And as with any teeth they need cleaning. But unfortunately they are located deep in the mouth, which is difficult to reach with a brush, therefore washing those teeth is often neglected. The result of poorly performed hygiene is the development of caries.
Extraction of wisdom teeth is indicated only in justified cases: health problems the teeth cause should be taken into account, the prognosis for the healing of changes, and the degree of the tooth destruction. Due to the location of wisdom teeth, their treatment is cumbersome and operating the tools in the deep areas of the mouth is not pleasant for the patient, nor trouble-free for the dentist.
The extraction of wisdom teeth, just because they are present, is not the best solution. The troublesome molars might be useful to support dentures or in autotransplant.
