Diastema: sexy or embarrassing?

dentistry in poland

Diastema, the gap between top front teeth, is considered by some people as a source of social and sexual attractiveness, for others it is an obnoxious flaw, which they would get rid of once and for all as quickly as possible.
Research shows that 89 % of people with diastema would be happy to eliminate the awkward space between the teeth, and for the vast majority, its existence is a good reason to hide their smiles.
The fact that the diastema causes extreme emotions, in visible on forums among their participants: some complain, others comfort. Meanwhile overseas, the gaps between the teeth are more and more fashionable - the Americans are increasingly rejecting a perfectly beautiful smile that came from the talented hands of dentists, and returning to the natural and original appearance.

Your doctor should decide whether the gap between the teeth is a problem that must be eliminated.
- Small diastema, to 2 mm, is not so visible, but bigger ones are very noticable. Besides, a larger gap is often a problem for the patient, because it is usually accompanied by other defects.

Diastema, sometimes, should be treated not as evil, but rather as a favorable space for the development of the teeth. Dentists estimate that nearly 50% of children between six and eight years of age has a gap between their teeth. Experts point out that the parents of these children should enjoy it instead of being worried. It would be best, however, if the child's teeth were looked at by a dentist.
Permanent teeth are much larger than the milk ones and if you have a lot of space, they will for sure fit in the jaw. However, if the gap stays, and this happens in case of almost 6% of population, it may mean abnormal bone structure, overgrown tissue and other problems.
You should start to worry about diastema when, except the large gaps between the teeth, there is also tendency to bite the lower lip, large tongue stuffing the teeth to the front, and other occlusal abnormalities - then orthodontic treatment may be required.

There are a few possibilities to eliminate diastema:
- Cutting the upper lip frenulum - the treatment costs about 300 zł. Dentists perform the surgery after the appearance of canines in childhood, because then the best results can be obtained.
- Wearing braces
- Veneers - however, veneers are not good in patients with large or wide gaps - they cause additional expansion or enlargement of the teeth.
- Supplementing with composite filling - quickly removes diastema.

Dentists in Poland definitely do not recommend the elimination of diastema with domestic methods - such as applying elastic band for hair on your teeth.

Your teeth suffer in the cinema

dentist in poland
Chips, popcorn, sweets, jellies, fizzy drinks - such a diet dominated cinemas. The fact that it is not healthy for your teeth, is theoretically obvious, but as it turns out, many moviegoers do not see anything wrong with eating sweets and drinking carbonated drinks. Meanwhile, the bacteria, which convert sugar into acids harmful to the enamel, just waiting for so "valuable" menu. If it happens during a long film session, lasting even two hours, excellent conditions for the development of caries are created.

Statistics confirm that Poles love biting candies at the movies. According to the studies, 54 % of the Poles admit that they eat sweets in the cinema, as much as 87 % eat popcorn or potato chips, and a little more than 20 %  drink sweet drinks. Only 7 % of moviegoers focus exclusively on the film.

The most damaging type of the sweets are the hard candies and all the stretching sweets: jelly beans, fudge, toffee. The first ones, hit your teeth and can cause fracture of enamel. The next ones in turn stick to the tooth surface so successfully and for so long that the bacteria inhabiting the oral cavity can safely carry out the destruction of the enamel. Jellies represent a challenge for the entire stomatognathic system - eating a whole pack of sweets is a serious effort for muscles and temporomandibular joints.

Popcorn can also be dangerous. Hard popcorn shells often get between teeth, irritating the gums. This applies mostly to the back teeth. The hard piece of popcorn stuck between the teeth can cause not only a normal discomfort but also serious problems and infections and, consequently, the creation of a painful gumboil, if the stuck piece is not removed. Cinema is one of those places where the tooth decay is fed. Childer are especially vulnerable to the bad influence of the fashionable cinematic diet. They eat the biggest amounts of sweets and are the amateurs of the "junk" snacks.

How to ensure safety when riots broke out abroad

dentistry in Poland

Travel agencies do not want to cancel trips and reimburse tourists' travelling expenses, when in the country of your destination political unrest erupted. Tourists, who in this case, resigns from the trip must go to court.

Canceled trips and early returns from the countries stricken with political and economic unrest, cause conflicts between tourists and travel organizers concerning bills and payments. Problems involve also the tourists' claims to insurance and the lack of proper security for the travellers in case of riots.

Before leaving

Each tourist should take care of his/her safety before leaving. First of all, you must determine whether, there is no ongoing unrest in the country of your destination. Such information can be found in the media, online, by reading the recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. When the Foreign Office warns against travelling to a country where the riots began, indicates the increased risk of crime, then many travel agencies suspend planned trips. In return for the already paid tour, they offer the trip in other time or different destination. Unfortunatelly, the announcement from the Foreign Office about the safety problems, does not give you any legal power to gain refund from a Travel Agency if you decide to cancel your trip.

Does the travel agancy have to propose other trip once the planned one is canceled?

In exchange for the canceled tour, the agency may propose to go to the same country at another time or to another country in the same or another time. The proposed trip should last as many days as the canceled one, and the tourist must have the same benefits and be accommodated at a hotel of the same standard and the number of stars.

When the visitor chooses a different trip, he/she is not entitled to additional compensation from the agency. In contrast, when the tourist refuses to go on the proposed trip and requests a refund, then the agency often makes various deductions. When the settlement of reimbursement is not suitable for the tourist, he/she may seek redress in court.

The tourist will not get a refund for the visa, which was paid for at the embassy of the country of the supposed destination. The Embassy charges a fee for a visa regardless of whether the tourists decided to go to the country.

Earlier return

When a tourist is already in the country of riots, the best beneficial option for her/him is when the travel agency offers the earlier return and organizes the transport. In such a case there are very often a dispute between the tourist and the agnet concerning the reimbursment of costs of the remaing part of the trip. The contract between the sides does not verify how the refund should look like in such a case. When the sides fail to reach agreement, the tourist has the right to go to court and thereby assert claims.

The tourist is in much worse situation, when the agency does not agree to the earlier return. It is also quite common that in such a case, the agency requires the torusits to sign a statement saying that they stay in the country on their own risk and they resign from any compensation. The tourist has a right to refuse to sign the statement and come back earlier. In such a case, he/she will have to pay on their own for the transport. Upon the return, however, he/she has the right to ask the office for reimbursement and compensation. The tourist must also pinpoint the damage he/she suffered. He/She has the right to demand compensation for the damage caused by earlier return.

Cosmetic dentistry in Poland

teeth whitening in Poland

White and healthy - simply beautiful teeth. Who would not like to have a wonderful smile. However, not all of us were generously endowed by nature.

Happy smile is one of the most natural human instincts. No wonder that, we usually want our teeth to be the most beautiful - after all, is there anything more charming than a beautiful smile, that we can give to other people? But almost every one of us suffers from minor imperfections: gentle or slight discoloration of inequality. Often we try to hide them somehow, but usually it does not bring expected results. Modern dentistry can help us: In recent years, cosmetic dentistry is experiencing a real boom in Poland. A beautiful and healthy smile is just a very good showcase for all of us - sometimes it is very important for people who work in contact with other people every day. Currently, teeth whitening and straightening does not really impress us. More and more people are opting for more complex procedures such as veneers or ceramic titanium implants.

So if you dream of a smile, which will enchant your environment, think of your teeth color. Typically, large amounts of coffee and tea (and also cigarettes) lead to numerous stains very quickly. The best would be to go to the dentist, who would diagnose your case, remove the tartar and - depending on your needs - will offer the best method of whitening. On the market there are more and more methods of teeth whitening starting from strips and gels, through an overlay bleaching, up to specialized methods such as Brite Smile, Beyond or laser therapy. Sometimes, however, discoloration is so strong, that these methods do not produced the desired effect. In such situations, dentists recommend veneers, which are simply thin plates (made of porcelain or composite), mounted on the teeth. It should be remembered that this method is irreversible, since before the installation of most veneers in Poland, teeth need to be polished and ground to the desired shape.

The perfect smile is not only the color but also the shape. Uneven and crooked teeth very often (even if they are white), make us ashamed to smile broadly. So if your teeth are not perfectly equal, do not be afraid to wear braces. The dental offices offer not only standard fixed braces but also removable and invisible models. So, if you are ashamed to wear traditional braces, you have a wide range of invisible options to choose from.

In addition to the bad distribution of teeth, there is also a common problem of uneven shape, which can be a consequence of fractures or other damages. In such a situation, to restore teeth to their glory, it is recommended to install a crown of the tooth and adjust the color to the color of our teeth. Similarly, when our concern are teeth cavities, we can fill them with a modern and attractive way with ceramic inlay or onlay contributions. A good solution is also the earlier mentioned veneers, which not only whiten your teeth, but also correct their shape.

Nothing, however, disfigures our smile like missing teeth. Modern dentistry offers include titanium implants, which not only perfectly mimic the natural dentition, but above all, allow patients to feel as if they were their own teeth. Implants in Poland fit exactly to the ground, so it is really a durable solution.

Home methods of teeth whitening in Poland

teeth whitening abroad

Why do teeth turn yellow?

There are many reasons for yellow teeth, however, the most common and well proven are: smoking, and drinking the world's most famous drug, which is coffee. Studies show that frequent drinking of tea also may change the color of our teeth. Another factor that leads to yellowing of teeth is frequent use of antibiotics (tetracycline) in adolescence, and in spite of appearances, too frequent use of fluoride.
Nowadays, there are numerous advanced methods of teeth whitening in Poland in the dental office, where we have professional care and safe whitening effects provided, but the biggest drawback of these treatments is their very high cost (from a few hundred PLN to as much as 1.500 PLN). Many people are asking whether there are effective yet safe ways of teeth whitening at home. Yes there are, although not everyone is aware of the fact that many of these methods may harm our teeth. Let's enlist all the commonly used domestic methods and refer to their effects on our teeth.

Soda, salt, lemon and coal - the components available in every home

Probably many people who today are already elderly, used to whiten their teeth with baking soda. Soda has the effect of bleaching, although it is short-term and additionally it destroies tooth enamel. Decades ago, in fact there were no other methods, but at the moment instead of soda teeth whitening we should rather buy a toothpaste, which contains soda concentration, and at the same time it is much safer, and the whitening effect is the same.
Another danger caused by teeth whitening is using lemon juice and salt. Cleaning your teeth with salt will have no whitening effect and will only irritate your gums, and damage the enamel. The excess of acid contained in the so-called lemons may cause tooth erosion so the loss of hard tissue of teeth and their demineralization.
The last commonly used method of tooth whitening, which, like the other three, is not safe, is brushing your teeth with food coal. You have to know that despite the elaborate effects (gentle removing of sediment) this can seriously harm your teeth, because carbon just rubs enamel.

Widely available products

Both pharmacy and well-equipped shops have a variety of products that will help us to get snow white smile.
First of - toothpaste
On the market there are many toothpastes that will help restore the whiteness of our teeth and prevent the formation of sludge. These pastes usually contain fluorine oxide and abrasives, which typically cope with minor yellowish spots but never restore the snow white smile in case of heavily discolored teeth.

Whitening strips and gels

Whitening strips is a widely used product, but its composition contains a much lower concentration of active bleaching substances than those used in professional dental offices. The total duration of using whitening strips usually takes several days and the effects persist for several months. Individuals with sensitive teeth should consult the dentist before applying the treatment.
Whitening gels are recommended for people with mild discoloration of teeth, because their ability to bleach is usually 2-3 tones. The gel is usually applied 2-3 times a day and the whole treatment period does not exceed 14 days. The concentration of whitening substances contained in the gels, as in the case of whitening strips, is much lower than those used at the dentist's.

Note traps!

On the Internet, television or newspaper ads we often see "miraculous means" that whiten your teeth in a few days up to 8-10 tones. A kind of incentive to buy them is their incredibly low price, which makes these products often bought.
In 99% of these means simply do not work and, in addition, they lead to the ruin of tooth enamel and irritate gums, and therefore you should not expose the health of your teeth.
