Christmas goodies versus dental health

dental treatment in Poland

Christmas goodies tempt - they are tasty and beautifully presented. Unfortunatelly, many of them are sweet, and some food contain ingredients unhealthy for teeth. There are some dishes, after eating which particular care of oral hygiene should be taken. So - while taking care of your stomach during Christmas, you must also remember about the parts of your mouth which allow you to enjoy the tasty food, meaning your teeth. Negligence of dental hygiene can quickly lead to the formation of tartar on the teeth, bad breath, and caries attack.

Among the delicacies which are quite dangerous for your teeth are: boiled wheat with poppy seeds and honey, compotes and cakes. On the one hand they are delicious and nutritious and thanks to the fruit filling they provide large amounts of valuable nutrients for health. On the other hand, they are full of the main enemy of teeth, which is sugar. One of the safest food for the health of teeth, which can be found on the Christmas table, is fish - it also provides the ingredients that positively affect the state of periodontal tissues.

Another enemy of healthy teeth is also the frequency of meals. We tend to forget about its destructive strength. During Christmas we eat practically all the time, rr at least more often than normally. This means that the saliva can not keep up with cleaning the mouth and does not effectively restore the proper pH inside the your mouth. It results in an increased activity of caries and enamel defects.

How to cherish the Christmas meals and at the same time take care of your oral hygiene?

First of all, we should brush the teeth, and of course, do it reasonably. You should focus primarily on the precise brushing. You can wash your teeth after the last meal, because no one will go to the bathroom after each of the twelve meals.

Perfect Smile

teeth whitening in Poland

Modern dentistry achievements allow us to "produce" a wonderful, dazzling smile for almost everybody. If nature has not endowed us equally with healthy and white teeth, you can attempt to fix those things which make you dissatisfied.

Where do I start?

From the initial visit - a patient together with the dentist determine how to come to the ideal smile. The doctor determines to what extent you need to fix your teeth after the examination and interview. Immediately he/she will propose a scheme of conduct, proposed treatments and determine the approximate cost of the "new" teeth. She/he may also consult an orthodontist in case the patient needs to correct the bite. Many patients come to the dentist with the assumption that they need to have a lot of rotten teeth extracted. Very often this is a mistaken to think so - the teeth may still heal and be saved, not extracted right ahead.

An extraction of a tooth is the last resort, and sometimes it is necessary. Sometimes, even a healthy tooth has to be extracted in order to improve the shape of the bite. Sometimes the shape of the jaw must be corrected by performing a surgery.
In the place of the removed, crooked or poorly shaped tooth the dentist may insert a implant which will look more perfect than a natural tooth.

When teeth are are already equal and cured, you can start the teeth whitening Poland treatment. It would be best to do it in the dentist's office - the treatment would be carried out under full control, and the results can be very surprising. To avoid and unpleasant surprise, and make sure that all the existing fillings match the color of the teeth after whitening, you have to rely on the suggestions of the dentist when he/she decides to replace old fillings with new ones, whose color would match the new shade of the bleached teeth.
If the final result of the whitening does not satisfy the patient, he/she can decide on perfectly matched veneers. Thanks to the dental veneers Poland, the teeth and spaces between them will be perfectly equal.

What is the root canal treatment and why is it performed?

root canal treatment in Poland

To understand the nature of the root canal treatment (endodontic treatment) it is necessary to mention the construction of the tooth. The tooth is made of a crown and roots. The crown is a portion of the tooth projecting above the gum and the root (or roots) resides in the bone. Inside each tooth there is a cavity that is filled with pulp, popularly known as the "nerves". It performs the functions of nutrients, and is composed of blood vessels and nerves.

The most frequent cause of toothache is ongoing inflammation in the pulp. It is mostly a consequence of dental caries but also periodontal diseases and tooth injury. That's when a patient needs root canal treatment, which involves the removal of infected or dead pulp and root canal system of teeth, by chemical and mechanical cleaning and filling the tooth with special material. Endodontic treatment gives us a chance to preserve the tooth, when the pulp is changed pathologically.

What are the stages of the endodontic treatment?

It consists of successive stages:

- opening the chamber of the tooth and removal of the living or dead pulp (usually performed under local anesthesia)
- shaping the canal with hand tools or machines
- drainage of the canal system
- filling the channel with special material
- the tooth after the root canal treatment should be rebuilt usually by the use of a post and a prosthetic crown. In the case of small destruction of a crown of the tooth, it can be filled with composite filling

Root canal treatment abroad is labor-and time-consuming treatment and requires a lot of patience from both physician and patient. It is not always possible to perform full treatment in one visit, sometimes it needs more meetings, especially in the treatment of multi-canal teeth, or treatment of teeth with gangrenous pulp, abscesses, cysts, etc. Then, during the time between the visits a pateint has a tooth dressing. It is important to maintain the tightness of the dressing, since if the bacteria re-enters to the prepared root canal system, it usually destroys the current treatment. Therefore it is important to keep your appointments in the time advised by your doctor.
